My Year of Meats

This book has done a great job of reminding me as to why I am a vegetarian.  Based on the title of the book, I knew there was going to be something gruesome and every time I opened the book I would hold my breath in anticipation. That being said, I didn't have to open the book very many times, I couldn't stop reading it. With our previous book, Happiness, I sometimes found myself dreading having to read another 75 pages. But I breezed right through My Year of Meats

It was a lot better than I thought it would be. And it certainly evoked a lot of emotions. I think I found myself irritated with every character at least once. And I found myself increasingly angry, and sick, as Jane delved deeper into the secrets of the American meat industry. Of course some of those scrumptious meals made me sick too. Beef fudge? Seriously? That's nasty.

But, nasty meat dishes aside, I enjoyed this book and I've already recommended it to a couple people. Although, I was a little disappointed with the ending. It seemed kind of rushed in a sense, and I wasn't exactly thrilled at the idea of Jane and Sloan getting back together again. He was a creep and an ass!
